Martinez Tallies Six Points in Win Over Yeshiva

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State senior forward Julissa Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) tallied six points (1g, 4a) in a 10-0 win over Skyline Conference opponent Yeshiva University on Tuesday afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams earned their first win of the season and improved to 1-2 overall and are now 1-0 in conference play.

FSC opened the scoring just 1:59 in as both Martinez and junior forward Jazzmin Terrell (West Babylon, N.Y.) set up freshman midfielder Alyse Rivera (Manhattan, N.Y.) for a goal.

Just 7:25 later, senior forward Celina Schenk (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) recorded an unassisted goal to put the Rams on top, 2-0.

Martinez scored her lone goal of the game, off the feed from freshman midfielder True Eggers (Manhattan, N.Y.), in the 14th minute to give Farmingdale State a three-goal edge.

Schenk added another unassisted goal before the break as the Rams entered halftime leading, 4-0.

Only 17 seconds into the second half, Martinez and senior forward Emily Zeblisky (Northport, N.Y.) assisted junior forward Michaela Rapisarda (Deer Park, N.Y.) for a goal.

Farmingdale State extended their advantage to 6-0 after a Terrell score, from Martinez.

The Rams added goals by Eggers, Rivera, sophomore forward Shirley Hernandez (Long Beach, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Jenna Garcia (Islandia, N.Y.) down the stretch as they went on for the 10-0 Skyline Conference victory.

Schenk and Rivera finished with two goals apiece, while Terrell, Eggers and Rapisarda registered a goal and an assist each.

FSC did not allow a Yeshiva shot in the win. 

The Rams are back in action this weekend (Sept. 10-11), when they travel to Dallas, Pennsylvania to face host Misericordia on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., before taking on St. Lawrence on the same field, Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
