Farmingdale, N.Y. - For the fifth straight season and 13th time in the last 14 years, the Farmingdale State women's soccer team has won the Skyline Conference Championship. The top-seeded Rams defeated #3 Mount Saint Mary, 2-0, this afternoon to claim the title and the conference's automatic bid into the 2021 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship. Freshman forward Jazzmin Terrell (West Babylon, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal with just over 20 minutes remaining to lead FSC to the victory.

In a scoreless first half, the Rams (15-7) outshot the Knights (11-7-2), 5-2, and held a 3-1 corner kick advantage. Farmingdale State came out quickly, attempting three shots in the first 10 minutes, but took just two more over the remainder of the first half.

In the opening minutes of the second, both teams had a shot on goal that were saved.

With 29:55 remaining, Rams' sophomore defender Celina Schenk (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) sent a cross in front for Terrell, but her shot caromed off the left post and out as the game remained scoreless.

Just 6:28 later, a Mount Saint Mary shot off a free kick was saved on a dive by FSC freshman goalkeeper Chloe Kensell (Monroe, N.Y.).

With 20:20 on the clock, Farmingdale State freshman defender Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) forced a misplay by a Knights defender to set up a Rams corner kick.

Junior forward Julissa Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) took the corner before Terrell was stopped on her first shot, but buried the rebound to give FSC the 1-0 lead.

With only 2:30 left to play, senior midfielder Tara Lyons (Wantagh, N.Y.) scored off the pass by Martinez to cap off the 2-0 victory for FSC.

Martinez was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Championship after assisting both goals this afternoon.

Kensell (W, 11-2) made three saves and picked up her 11th victory of the season, while Mount Saint Mary sophomore goalie Christina Kakavas (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) (L, 7-5-1) stopped five shots in defeat.
