Women's Soccer Clinches #1 Seed for Playoffs with Win Over OW

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The FSC women's soccer team defeated Old Westbury this afternoon, 4-0, to improve to a perfect 9-0 in Skyline Conference play. The Rams are now 12-7 overall and have clinched the #1 seed for the upcoming Skyline Conference Championship.

Farmingdale State took 11 unanswered shots in the first 15 minutes before junior forward Julissa Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored off the double assist from freshman forward Jazzmin Terrell (West Babylon, N.Y.) and senior midfielder Molly Dowd (Bay Shore, N.Y.).

The game remained 1-0 into halftime after the Rams were held to just two shots on goal in the final 29:38.

FSC sophomore defender Taylor Berry (Glen Head, N.Y.) scored just 5:24 into the second half to increase the lead to 2-0. Sophomore defender Celina Schenk (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and junior forward Dayna Marshall (Bohemia, N.Y.) tallied the assists.

Only 1:06 later, Marshall tallied her second assist of the game after sending a cross in front to senior midfielder Tara Lyons (Wantagh, N.Y.), who scored to go up, 3-0.

The Rams final goal came with 4:51 remaining. Freshman forward Francesca Robiglio (West Islip, N.Y.) scored from sophomore forwards Kathy Lopez (Farmingville, N.Y.) and Courtney Nelson (Ridge, N.Y.) as Farmingdale State went on for the 4-0 victory.

FSC outshot Old Westbury (4-11, 2-7 Skyline), 30-2, in the game and held a 9-0 corner kick advantage.

Farmingdale State next plays host to Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday, October 27th at 6:00 p.m. on Senior Night.
