FSC Improves to 7-0 in Skyline with Win Over Purchase

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team played host to Purchase College this afternoon and earned an 9-0 win. The Rams improved to 7-0 in conference play with the victory.

FSC (10-7) opened the scoring only 24 seconds into the game on a goal by senior midfielder Cailyn Demarinis (Deer Park, N.Y.), which was assisted by junior forward Julissa Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.).

Only 32 seconds later, the Rams took a 2-0 advantage after freshman forward Jazzmin Terrell (West Babylon, N.Y.) netted the pass from sophomore defender Celina Schenk (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.).

In the third minute, FSC increased the lead to 3-0 on a goal by sophomore defender Taylor Berry (Glen Head, N.Y.).

After an Emily Zeblisky (Northport, N.Y.) score put the Rams on top, 4-0, freshman midfielder Maddy Berry (Glen Head, N.Y.) and freshman forward Nicole Ferreyra (Bellomore, N.Y.) each added goals as Farmingdale State took a six-goal lead into halftime.

The Rams outshot the Panthers (4-8, 2-6 Skyline), 22-3, and held a 5-0 corner kick advantage in the half.

In the second half, Martinez, Demarinis and freshman forward Johanna Heinen (Naples, Fla.) added goals as Farmingdale State went on for the 9-0 Skyline Conference victory.

Demarinis finished with a game-high four points on her two goals, while Martinez notched three points on a goal and an assist.

Rams' freshman goalkeeper Chloe Kensell (Monroe, N.Y.) tallied three saves to improve to 7-2 on the season. Purchase sophomore Haley Cascio (Deer Park, N.Y.) (L, 4-7) totaled 16 saves in the loss.

FSC next will play Yeshiva in a Skyline Conference game on Thursday, October 21st at 7:00 p.m. The Rams will be the road team but the game will be played at Farmingdale State.
