WestConn Defeats FSC in Double Overtime; Remains Perfect at 13-0

Western Connecticut - 2, Farmingdale State - 1 (2OT)


Danbury, Conn. - The FSC women's soccer team traveled to Danbury, Connecticut on Monday evening to play non-conference opponent Western Connecticut and fell in double overtime, 2-1. Farmingdale State dropped to 7-6 overall, while WestConn remains a perfect 13-0 on the season.

The Rams took an early 1-0 advantage just over 15 minutes in on an unassisted goal from senior defender Meagan Murdocco (North Babylon, N.Y.). This was the first time in 876:12 game minutes (10 games) that Western Connecticut trailed in a game.

FSC controlled play over the final 30 minutes of the first half outshooting WestConn, 7-2, as the game remained 1-0.

After trading shots on goal early in the second half, WestConn evened the score in the 78th minute on a goal by freshman Suzana Imetovski (Seymour, Conn.), from Lillian Daniels (Bethel, Conn.) and Skyline Jorge (Trumbull, Conn.).

Both teams combined for just one more shot on goal in the final 12:57 as the game headed to overtime tied at 1-1.

In the first OT, FSC freshman forward Jazzmin Terrell (West Babylon, N.Y.) recorded the only shot on goal. Western Connecticut had two shot attempts that went wide of the net.

The Rams best chance came 2:54 into the second overtime when sophomore forward Courtney Nelson (Ridge, N.Y.) sent a shot that caromed off the left goal post.

Just 59 seconds later, WestConn sophomore midfielder Hannah Daly (Newtown, Conn.) scored to secure the come-from-behind, 2-1 victory.

FSC freshman goalkeeper Chloe Kensell (Monroe, N.Y.) (L, 4-2) recorded a career-best six saves in the loss, while senior goalie Karly Martin (Bristol, Conn.) (W, 13-0) stopped eight shots for Western Connecticut.

The Rams next will travel to Sarah Lawrence for a Skyline Conference game on Wednesday, October 13th at 7:00 p.m.
