Montclair State Earns 3-1 Non-Conference Victory Over FSC

Montclair State - 3, Farmingdale State - 1


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team played host to non-conference opponent Montclair State this afternoon and were defeated, 3-1.

Prior to the start of the game, FSC Head Coach Chris Roche was presented with a framed game program and signed ball by his team to commemorate his 200th career win.

The Rams (4-3) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead only 1:39 into the contest when freshman forward Jazzmin Terrell (West Babylon, N.Y.) scored from 10 yards out to the lower right corner of the net off the pass by senior defender Meagan Murdocco (North Babylon, N.Y.). The assist by Murdocco was her fifth in the last two games.

Montclair State (5-2) sophomore defender Tara Lambert (Waldwick, N.Y.) secured the loose ball in front of the net and recorded an unassisted goal to even the score at 1-1 in the 9th minute.

Both the Rams and Red Hawks attempted six shots in the first half as the game went into the break tied 1-1.

Montclair State controlled the second half as they outscored FSC 2-0 and held a 10-2 shot advantage.

In the 57th minute, sophomore midfielder Aileen Cahill (Little Egg Harbor, N.J.) dribbled around a Farmingdale State defender and scored to put the Red Hawks on top, 2-1.

The final goal of the game came with 11:33 remaining as freshman defender Emmi DeNovellis (Old Bridge, N.J.) scored from 10 yards out to cap off the 3-1 non-conference victory for Montclair State.

The Rams next will play host to Arcadia in a non-conference game on Saturday, September 25th at 2:00 p.m.
