Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State freshman defender Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) scored both the game-tying and game-winning goals to lead the women's soccer team past Arcadia University, 2-1, this afternoon. The Rams improved to 5-3 overall, while the Knights dropped to 2-6.

In a scoreless first half, the Knights outshot FSC, 5-3, and had the only two shots on goal. Farmingdale State's best chance came in the 32nd minute as freshman forward Samantha Muller (North Babylon, N.Y.) headed a corner kick just high of the net.

Arcadia opened the scoring in the second half after an FSC foul allowed a Knights free kick. Junior defender Riley Ratcliffe (South Brunswick, N.J.) sent the ball into the box for senior forward Kira Bochard (Burbank, Calif.) to score and put Arcadia in front, 1-0.

Still 1-0 with 8:55 remaining, Farmingdale State sophomore defender Taylor Berry (Glen Head, N.Y.) intercepted a pass and sent the ball ahead to McNeill who scored from 10 yards out.

The Rams attempted three more shots in the final seven minutes but were unable to find the back of the net as the game headed into overtime tied at 1-1.

Just 6:54 into the overtime period, McNeil dribbled up the sideline, drove past the defender and sent a shot off the left post and into the net for the game-winning goal to give FSC the 2-1 win.

McNeil registered the first four points of her collegiate career in the victory.

Rams' sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Jolly (Massapequa, N.Y.) (W, 2-2) stopped two shots to earn her second win of the season.

For the Knights, junior goalie Julia Mendez (Toms River, N.J.) (L, 1-2) made six saves in the loss.

Farmingdale State returns to action tomorrow, Sunday, September 26th when they play host to #9 Trinity (Tex.) at 11:00 a.m.
