#11 Dickinson - 3, Farmingdale State - 1
Amherst, Mass. - In the opening round of the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship this afternoon, Farmingdale State was defeated by #11 Dickinson, 3-1. The Rams end their season 14-6-3 overall, while the Red Devil have advanced to the second round and will play host-school Amherst on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Dickinson (15-2-4) opened the scoring early as senior midfielder Addy Zandi (West Chester, Penn.) set up sophomore midfielder Charlotte Glancey (Princeton, N.J.) for a goal in the 13th minute.
With 15 minutes remaining in the first half, the Rams controlled play as they recorded four shots and three corner kicks in a six-minute span.
In the 37th minute, Farmingdale State was able to score as senior midfielder Edasia Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) recorded a goal off a rebounded shot to knot the game at 1-1.
The game remained 1-1 until the 78th minute when freshman forward Meg Tate (Carlisle, Penn.) tallied an unassisted goal to put Dickinson in front, 2-1.
The Red Devil added another goal from Tate just 3:19 later to take a 3-1 advantage.
Neither team recorded a shot the rest of the way as Dickinson earned the 3-1 victory.
FSC senior goalkeeper Daniella Ford (Elmont, N.Y.) stopped nine shots in the loss, while sophomore goalie Carli Boyer (Silver Spring, Md.) made six saves for the Red Devil.
