Martinez Registers Hat Trick as Rams Defeat Purchase on Senior Day

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Sophomore forward Julissa Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored a game-high three goals as the Farmingdale State women's soccer team earned an 8-0 home victory over Purchase in Skyline Conference action this afternoon. It was senior day at FSC and Daniella Ford (Elmont, N.Y.), Edasia Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.), Brittney Starzee (Babylon, N.Y.), Jacquelyn Haft (Smithtown, N.Y.), Celine Cannizzaro (Bayport, N.Y.), Elizabeth Dasilva (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and Gianna DeCarlo (West Islip, N.Y.) were each honored prior to the start of the game.

The Rams (10-5-3, 7-0-1) opened the scoring in the 6th minute on a Starzee goal off the pass by E. Martinez. Less than two minutes later, Starzee netted her second goal of the afternoon to put FSC out in front, 2-0. In the 34th minute, freshman midfielder Kristina Sommer (Oakdale, N.Y.) recorded her first career goal and the final score of the half as the Rams took a 3-0 advantage into the break. Farmingdale State allowed only one shot attempt by Purchase (7-6, 3-5) in the first half.

Junior midfielder Cailyn Demarinis (Deer Park, N.Y.) tallied the first two goals of the second half to increase the FSC lead to 5-0 with 26:40 left on the clock. J. Martinez scored her three goals in a span of 2:19 as the Rams capped off the 8-0 home win. 

10 different FSC players registered at least one point in the victory.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Maritime for a Skyline Conference matchup on Monday, October 28th at 7:30 p.m.
