Strong Second Half Leads FSC Past Sarah Lawrence

Yonkers, N.Y. - After a scoreless first half, the Farmingdale State women's soccer team tallied a pair of goals early in the second to earn a 2-0 victory over conference opponent Sarah Lawrence on Tuesday evening. The Rams now stand at 7-3-2 on the year and a perfect 4-0 in Skyline Conference play.

In the first 45 minutes, FSC outshot the Gryphons (8-4, 4-2 Skyline) 26-0 but were unable to find the back of the net.

Just 6:10 into the second half, Farmingdale State sophomore forward Julissa Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) registered an unassisted goal to give the Rams a 1-0 advantage.

FSC extended their lead to 2-0 in the 63rd minute after senior midfielder Edasia Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) set up junior midfielder Meagan Murdocco (North Babylon, N.Y.) for a goal.

Over the final 27 minutes, each team recorded just one shot on goal as Farmingdale State went on for the 2-0 victory.

FSC senior goalkeeper Daniella Ford (Elmont, N.Y.) needed just one save to pick up her seventh shutout of the season, while Sarah Lawrence junior goalie Madison Mertsch (Richmond, Va.) made 12 saves in the loss.

Farmingdale State next travels to play non-conference opponent #24 Williams on Saturday, October 12th at noon.
