Rams Shutout #6 Misericordia in Non-Conference Win

Dallas, Penn. - The 21st ranked Farmingdale State women's soccer team traveled to non-conference opponent #6 Misericordia on Sunday afternoon and earned a 1-0 shutout victory. The Rams improved to 2-1-1 on the season with the win.

The Cougars (3-1) controlled play early as they outshot FSC, 8-1, in a scoreless first half. In the 40th minute, Misericordia sophomore defender Zoe Farr (Vestal, N.Y.) took a shot that was cleared off the goal line by Rams' freshman midfielder Celina Schenk (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) for a team save. Farmingdale State senior goalkeeper Daniella Ford (Elmont, N.Y.) tallied four stops in the first 45 minutes.

With just over 26 minutes remaining, Rams' senior midfielder Edasia Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) sent a cross in front for sophomore forward Julissa Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.), who used a header out of the goalkeeper's reach to give FSC the 1-0 advantage.

Misericordia would attempt five shots over the final 20 minutes of the contest but were unable to score as Farmingdale State won, 1-0.

Ford picked up the victory and finished with eight saves on the day for her third shutout in four games this season.

The Rams next host #25 Scranton in their home opener on Saturday, September 14th at 2:30 p.m.
