Troy, N.Y. - For the third consecutive season, the Farmingdale State women's soccer team traveled to Troy, N.Y. for the Engineers Cup hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). In their first game of the tournament this evening, #21 FSC (1-0) earned a 1-0 shutout victory over Buffalo St. (0-1).

The lone goal of the contest came in the 27th minute as Farmingdale State sophomore forward Emily Zeblisky (Northport, N.Y.) was able to corral a loose ball and send a pass up to sophomore forward Julissa Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) who had a breakaway. Martinez's first shot attempt was deflected by Bengals' senior goalkeeper Taylor Carillo (Pine Bush, N.Y.) into the right goal post, but Martinez was able to gather the rebound and send it into the net for the 1-0 lead.

The Rams controlled play in the first 45 minutes as they held a 15-4 shot advantage.

In a scoreless second half, FSC outshot Buffalo St. 4-2, while the Bengals had the only corner kick of the half.

Farmingdale State senior goalkeeper Daniella Ford (Elmont, N.Y.) stopped two shots as she picked up the season-opening shutout, 1-0.

The Rams return to action tomorrow afternoon when they play host-school RPI at 3:00 p.m.
