Tara is a 2015 graduate of MacArthur High School, where she earned All-County and All-Conference honors. She transferred to Farmingdale State after playing soccer at Coastal Carolina University. Tara is the daughter of Denise and Thomas Lyons.

Junior year...Named First Team All-Skyline, Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Year and Third Team All-East Region...Started 23-of-24 games...Led the team in goals (9) and points (24), ranked second in shots (60) and assists, third in game-winning goals (2) and fourth in shots on goal (19)...In the Skyline, ranked sixth in assists, seventh in goals and eighth for points...Controlled an FSC midfield that ranked 31st in the Nation for GAA (0.56) and 32nd in scoring offense (3.0).

Sophomore year...Named First Team All-Conference...Appeared in 22-of-23 games...Ranked second on the team in assists (4) and fifth for points (10)...Also scored three goals, including one game-winner.
