Skyline Releases Fall Weekly Report #2

- Lettieri named Rookie of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #2 on Monday, September 12, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Cross Country Update

The women's and men's cross country teams finished in first and third place, respectively, at the Purchase College Invitational. Freshman Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week after placing sixth in 21:58.5. Junior Nicole Franz (Huntington Station, N.Y.) recorded a runner-up finish in the event in a personal best time of 21:17.9.

FSC will now compete at the Bard College Invitational in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. on Saturday, September 17th.

Women's Volleyball Update (1-2, 0-0 Skyline)

The Rams opened the season with a 3-0 win over CSI before falling to Montclair State and Mt. Aloysius. Sophomore outside Annie Cosgrave (Bay Shore, N.Y.) posted 30 digs, 28 kills and five aces for the week, while freshman setter Julia Hande (Islip, N.Y.) finished second on the team in kills/set with 2.27 (25 total).

This week the women's volleyball team will travel to Rutgers-Newark on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. before opening conference play in a tri-match at St. Joe's-Brooklyn on Sunday at 1/3pm.

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team started the fall season with a runner-up finish at the 2016 Montgomery Cup at Downingtown Country Club. The Rams fell, 3-2, in the championship matches to host school Rosemont College. FSC freshman Ryan Scanlon (Huntington Station, N.Y.) won the stroke play event by two strokes after firing rounds of 70 and 75. 

Women's Tennis Update (3-3, 0-1 Skyline)

Farmingdale State was 2-1 last week with non-conference victories over William Paterson and Hunter but fell, 5-4, to Yeshiva in the Skyline Conference opener.

Senior Tatiana Rosamilia (Malverne, N.Y.) was a team-best 6-0 in singles and doubles matches on the week.

The Rams next will host John Jay on Friday (4:00 p.m.) and head to Purchase on Saturday (11:00 a.m.).

Women's Soccer Update (0-3-2, 0-0 Skyline)

The women's soccer team was 0-1-1 last week after a 1-1 double overtime tie versus Trinity (Conn.) and a 1-0 double OT loss at #23 Ithaca.

This week FSC will play three non-conference games: Wednesday vs. NYU @ 4:00 p.m., Saturday at Scranton @ 1:00 p.m. and Sunday at SUNY Geneseo @ 11:00 a.m.

Men's Soccer Update (1-4, 0-0 Skyline)

The men's soccer team posted an 0-3 mark in three non-conference games last week.

This week Farmingdale State will host Baruch on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and Purchase on Saturday at noon.
