
Farmingdale State - 2, Old Westbury - 1
Old Westbury, N.Y. - Senior defender Katrina Cerverizzo (Center Moriches, N.Y.) scored both goals as the Rams defeated Skylne opponent Old Westbury, 2-1, in their final regular-season game. With the win, Farmingdale State secured a first round bye in the Skyline Conference Playoffs on Saturday, October 29th.
After a scoreless first half, Cerverizzo netted the first goal of the game in the 75th minute off an assist from junior forward Jamie Smith (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.). Just 2:22 later, Cerverizzo was awarded a penalty kick and would make the score 2-0 Rams. Old Westbury was able to get a goal with seven minutes to go, but Farmingdale would come home with the win. The Rams controlled play throughout with a 16-4 shot advantage and 9-1 on corner kicks.
The Rams will host the winner of #6 Purchase/#3 Old Westbury on Wednesday, November 2nd (Time TBA) for a Skyline Semifinal game. Top seed Mount Saint Mary will host the winner of #5 Sage/#4 St. Joseph's in the other Semifinal game on Wednesday. The Skyline Championship will be played at the highest remaining seed on Saturday, November 5th.
