Rams Remain Unbeaten with Shutout of Buffalo State

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team defeated non-conference opponent Buffalo State, 2-0, this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams improved to a perfect 3-0, while the Bengals fell to 2-1.

Farmingdale State freshman midfielder Andrea Kiefer (Centereach, N.Y.) put the Rams ahead 1-0 as she scored off freshman Sam Johrden's (Deer Park, N.Y.) pass right in front of the net 24 minutes into the contest. Farmingdale State was outshot 7-4 in the first half, but took a 1-0 advantage into the break.

Late in the second half junior forward Jamie Smith's (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) shot hit the post and redirected in front of the net where junior forward Corine Magee (Mastic, N.Y.) scored, giving the Rams a 2-0 lead. Farmingdale would hold the Bengals scoreless over the final 13:44 to secure their third consecutive shutout to start the season.

Senior goalkeeper Amanda Maass (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) recorded six saves in the win, while sophomore goalie Linda Banfield (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) made three saves in defeat for Buffalo State.

The Rams next will host Manhattanville in a non-conference game on Wednesday, September 7th at 4:00 p.m.
