Staten Island, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team defeated the College of Staten Island, 8-0, winning their third consecutive game. The Rams shutout the last three opponents and now hold a 9-3-3 record, while Staten Island falls to 3-7-2.

Freshman forward Melissia Elie (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) scored on Shannon Kalogeras' (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) long pass from the 50 yard line to give the Rams the early 1-0 advantage. Freshman forward Christina Merrill (Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees) would score on a breakaway two minutes later, putting Farmingdale up by two. Sophomore forward Rebecca Richman (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) chipped a shot past a diving Jessica Levy (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan E. Wagner), putting her team up 3-0 right before halftime.

Farmingdale's sophomore forward Katrina Cerverizzo (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) netted the first two goals of the second half off passes from Merrill and senior Tricia Pickford (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa). Freshmen Jamie Smith (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East), Corine Magee (Mastic Beach, N.Y./William Floyd) and Nicole Sinacori (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) all added a goal in the late minutes, leading the Rams to the 8-0 non-conference road victory.

Farmingdale State held a considerable shot advantage (43-5) over Staten Island.

Freshman goalkeeper Stacey Rao (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) had four saves in the win, while Levy had senior Kelly Kenny (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) each had nine stops for the College of Staten Island.

Farmingdale will host Montclair State on Saturday, October 17th at 3:00pm.
