Farmingdale State - 5, Staten Island - 0

Farmingdale, N.Y. - A goal by freshman forward Katrina Cerverizzo (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) just three minutes in, proved to be the eventual game-winner for Farmingdale State, in today's 5-0 non-conference women's soccer victory over the College of Staten Island. The Rams improved to 5-8 with the win, their third straight, while the Dolphins fell to 3-6 overall.

The Rams led 2-0 at the half, after a score by junior forward Monica Grisales (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood), assisted by junior midfielder Trish Pickford (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa).

In the second, freshman midfielder Brittany Williams (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) would make it 3-0 with the assist from Grisales, before sophomore midfielder Anna-Marie Rivera (Bay Shore, N.Y./Brentwood) tipped in a pass in front from freshman forward Julianne Cicio (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Holy Trinity) for a 4-0 edge. Cerverizzo added her second of the day with seven minutes remaining for the final tally.

Farmingdale State held Staten Island to just four shots in the game, and freshman goalkeeper Amanda Maass (Mastic Beach, N.Y./William Floyd) needed to make just two saves in her third shutout of the season. Staten Island's senior goalkeeper Tina Bellochio (Staten Island, N.Y./St. John Villa) made 14 saves in defeat.

The Rams will now play at Purchase College on Friday, October 10th in a conference game at 7:00 p.m.
