Freshmen Shine in Rams Home Opener
Farmingdale State - 5, King's College- 1
Farmingdale, N.Y. – Farmingdale State won its women's soccer home opener this afternoon, 5-1, over King’s College. The Rams went up 2-0 on unassisted goals by freshmen Brittany Williams (Massapequa, NY/ Massapequa) and Katrina Cerverizzo (Center Moriches, NY/Center Moriches), before King’s junior Kelly Puffenberger (Dallas, PA/Bishop Hoban) cut the Farmingdale lead to 2-1. Cerverizzo added another goal five minutes later and freshman Morgan Baust (Manorville, NY/Eastport-South Manor) scored the final goal of the half, giving the Rams a 4-1 advantage.
In the second, Farmingdale shut out the Lady Monarchs and allowed
only four shots on goal. Rams sophomore Anna-Marie Rivera (Bay
Shore, NY/Brentwood) added the fifth goal with under a minute
remaining to cap off the victory.
Farmingdale State goalkeeper Caitlin Howard (Farmingdale,
NY/Farmingdale) had six saves for the win and King’s College
goalie Sara Ciarlo (Watertown, Conn/ Holy Cross) made five saves.
The Rams now travel to Yeshiva for their first Skyline Conference game of the season on Sunday, September 7th at 8:00 pm.
