(Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) scored both goals in a 2-1 Skyline
Conference women's soccer victory over Purchase College (5-7-1,
2-1-1 Skyline) today in Farmingdale, N.Y. With the win, Farmingdale
State remained unbeaten in the conference with a 5-0 record, 9-5
overall.
Cascio's first goal came seven minutes into the game in a scramble in front. Sophomore forward Tricia Pickford (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) tipped it over to Cascio for the assist. The second goal of the game by Cascio was on a breakaway.
Purchase had some chances for a score, but their goal did not come until the 87th minute of play when Susan Bigler sent a high ball in from the top of the box that slipped through the goalies hands and found the back of the net for a 2-1 score with 2:14 left on the clock. The Rams held on in the final minutes for their fourth straight victory.
Farmingdale's sophomore goalkeeper Kimberly Sontag (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) made three saves in the win, while Purchase goalkeeper Stephanie Janasiewicz made five saves in defeat.
The Rams set a program record for women's soccer attendance today, with a total of 310. Farmingdale hosts Polytechnic University on Monday, October 15th at 3:45 p.m. for another Skyline Conference game.
