Nov 6, 2006

The Farmingdale State women's soccer team notched three players on this years Skyline All-Conference list, which was announced on November 6, 2006. Freshmen Christina Cascio, Amanda Biondi and Kimberly Sontag all received All-Conference honors for their play during the season.

Freshman forward Christina Cascio (Kings Park, NY) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Skyline. Cascio finished the year atop the scoring in the conference. She scored 16 goals (four game-winners) and added one assist for a total 33 points, while tallying two hat-tricks and four multiple goal games. She was always in the right place to connect on crosses and deflections. Her 16 goals amount to the most goals scored in a season by a Farmingdale player since we joined the NCAA in 2000.

Freshman midfielder Amanda Biondi (West Islip, NY) was also named First Team All-Skyline. She finished third on the team in scoring with three goals and five assists. Biondi controlled every game from the midfield with her smarts, speed and footwork, setting up the forward line, helping on defense and getting the ball back upfield. Amanda helped improve the offensive and defensive team stats, as the teams' "Goals For" improved by 11 and the "Goals Against" decreased by 15 since last season.

Freshman goalkeeper Kimberly Sontag (Lynbrook, NY) received Second Team All-Skyline honors. Kim finished the regular-season with a total of 85 saves, a 1.14 goals against average, 7 shutouts and a .825 save percentage. She was named Skyline Rookie of the Week once during the season. In the month of October, Sontag only allowed one goal and helped the team to a 7-1 month and all shutout wins. She had 10 or more saves in three games this season.
