Chris Roche Named Head Women’s Soccer Coach

Mike Harrington, Director of Athletics at Farmingdale State, announces today that Chris Roche has been named Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Farmingdale State. Chris has been the Head Coach at Briarcliffe College for the past two years, where he coached the team to an 18-8-2 record, as well as a number three ranking in the country in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA). Chris graduated from the University of Scranton in 1985 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Finance. While studying at Scranton, he played one year of soccer and was then hired as the assistant coach. Chris is the owner of Prime Time Sports, an indoor soccer facility in Copiague, NY. He currently resides in Commack, NY with his wife and three children.

Women's Soccer End of Season Report

The 2004 Women’s Soccer team ended the season with a 4-13-1 overall record and finished in fourth place in the Skyline Conference. The Rams were defeated in the Skyline Semi-finals by eventual conference champion Stevens Institute. The team was led offensively by sophomore Amanda Chiusano and junior Natalie Budinich. Amanda tallied a team-high six goals, including two game-winners for the Rams, while Natalie finished with three goals, one the overtime game-winner against Manhattanville College. The goal cage was occupied by junior Pam Baione who finished the season ranked 14th nationally among Division III goalies with 12 saves per game. Junior transfer Victoria Blank and sophomore captain Kristina Famularo were two of only four girls who played in every game this season. Victoria and Kristina were major contributors at both ends of the field throughout the 2004 campaign.
For their accomplishments this season, three individuals were named All-Skyline and two were named WIAC All-Stars. Pam Baione was selected to the Skyline First Team, while Victoria Blank and Amanda Chiusano were named to the Skyline Second Team. Baione and Kristina Famularo were selected to the WIAC All-Star team.

Farmingdale Starting Goaltenders Ranked Nationally in Saves Per Game

The Men's and Women's Soccer starting goalkeepers both finished the season ranked nationally in saves per game. Junior goalies Pam Baione (Farmingdale, NY) and Patric Santiago (Baldwin, NY) finished with a 14th and 15th ranking, respectively, among all Division III NCAA Soccer Goalies.
Pam finished the year with a 3.49 Goals Against Average and a .779 save percentage. She totaled 204 saves and averaged 12 saves per game. Patric finished the 2004 season with an average of 8 saves per game and a .720 save percentage. His final Goals Against Average was 3.14.

Women’s Soccer Falls in Semifinals to #1 Seed Stevens

Farmingdale (4-13-1) was defeated in the Skyline Semifinals by #1 seed Stevens Institute (17-1-1) 8-0. Stevens exploded for six goals in the first half of the game. Valerie Barnhart (Gilbertsville, PA) and Catherine Rotsides (Morristown, NJ) both finished the game with two goals and one assist for Stevens, while Erica Midttveit (Jackson, NJ) received the shutout making one save. Farmingdale keeper Pam Baione (Farmingdale, NY) recorded 7 saves. In other Skyline action, St. Josephs upset Centenary with a 3-2 victory to advance to the finals. Stevens will face the third-seeded St. Joseph’s in the championship game on Saturday at 1pm.

SUNY New Paltz Defeats Farmingdale 2-0

The Hawks of SUNY New Paltz (7-9-3) defeated the Rams (4-12-1) in today’s women’s soccer game at Farmingdale State. New Paltz controlled most of the game as they outshot Farmingdale 29-3. Stephanie DeRobertis (Newburgh, NY) scored the eventual game-winner 8 minutes into the first half off a pass from Lauren Martone (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY). Danielle Herring (Albany, NY) added the insurance goal for New Paltz at the 21 minute mark. With a scoreless second half, Hawks’ keeper Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY) was awarded the shutout making 1 save for the day.
Farmingdale’s Pam Baione (Farmingdale, NY) played well in net totaling 15 saves.
The Rams will begin the Skyline Conference Playoffs on Wednesday. Game time and opponent will be announced on Monday, November 1st.

Chiusano Hat-Trick Leads Rams Over NJCU 3-0

Sophomore forward Amanda Chiusano (Bellport, NY) notched a hat-trick, the third of her career, to lead the Rams over NJCU in a Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer game. Despite trailing 16-11 in shots, Farmingdale was able to find the holes and improved their record to 4-11-1 overall, 1-4-1 in the WIAC.
Chiusano's first goal came at 5:15 in the first half after she settled a pass from junior defender Victoria Blank (Levittown, NY) and took on the goalie close range. Chiusano made it 2-0 at the 58:17 mark, after a pass from sophomore midfielder Kristina Famularo (East Meadow, NY) created another one-on-one in the box. Chiusano's final goal came at 70:56 as she dribbled past several NJCU defenders to score her third one-on-one goal of the day. Rams goalie Pam Baione (Farmingdale, NY) totaled 9 saves in her third shutout of the season.
Farmingdale will return to action on Saturday, October 30th at home against SUNY New Paltz at 1pm. The Rams will then travel to Stevens Institute on Wednesday, November 3rd for the first round of the Skyline Playoffs.

Women’s Soccer Falls to St. Joseph’s

The Rams (2-11-1, 2-3 Skyline) were defeated 3-1 by conference opponent St. Joseph’s College (8-7, 3-1 Skyline) on Wednesday afternoon. St. Joe’s struck first on a penalty kick by Megan Wilson (Islip, NY) at 23:14, while Justine Salpietro (Shoreham, NY) would add another just 15 minutes later for the 2-0 lead. Ezzo Tonianne (Wantagh, NY) capped off the scoring for St. Joe’s in the second half with her first goal of the season.
Natalie Budinich (Commack, NY) scored the Rams lone goal with 10 minutes remaining in the game. Pam Baione (Farmingdale, NY) made 9 saves in net for Farmingdale.
The Rams return to action on Saturday, October 23rd as they take on Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY in a Skyline Conference game at 1:00pm.

Undefeated Stevens Beats Farmingdale

Farmingdale State (2-9, 2-2 Skyline) lost to visiting Stevens Institute (11-0-1, 3-0 Skyline) by a score of 3-0 in todays Skyline conference game. Valerie Barnhart (Gilbertsville, PA) led the Ducks with three points on the day, including the game-winning goal and an assist. Coralynn Jones (Stevensville, MO) tapped in the second goal for Stevens off a goalie rebound from Barnhart’s shot on net. The Ducks’ final goal was socred by Nicole Migliore (Stratford, NJ), assisted by Siena York-Carr (Davis, CA) and Cristina Fulgencio (Staten Island, NY).
Farmingdale goalkeeper Pam Baione (Farmingdale, NY) finished the day with 14 saves.
The Rams return to action on Friday, October 15th for a game at St. Elizabeth’s at 4:00pm.

Jacci Giannone Scores Three in Rutgers-Camden Victory

Rutgers-Camden’s Jacci Giannone (Williamstown, NJ) tallied three goals against the Rams (2-8) to lead Rutgers (9-2-1) towards a 5-1 victory. Rutgers outshot Farmingdale 15-4 and led 2-0 at the half. Katlyn Pagaduan (Somerdale, NJ) and Aubree McDermott (Moorestown, NJ) each scored once for Rutgers.
Pam Baione (Farmingdale, NY) played the first half of the game in goal for Farmingdale making 5 saves. Pam was moved to forward in the second half and scored on a penalty kick to prevent the shutout.
The Rams host Stevens Institute on Wednesday, October 13th in a Skyline Conference game starting at 4:00pm.

Women’s Soccer Falls to Staten Island

The Rams (2-7) lost 3-2 to Staten Island (2-4) in a non-conference game on Tuesday. Danielle Narwick (Staten Island, NY) led Staten Island with two goals, including the game-winner with six minutes remaining in the second half. Goalie’s Annemarie Torre (Staten Island, NY) and Jennifer Miller (Staten Island, NY) split time in net for the Dolphins finishing with 10 combined saves.
Farmingdale sophomore Amanda Chiusano (Bellport, NY) jolted the attack to a 1-0 lead at the 34 minute mark, while junior defender Victoria Blank (Levittown, NY) would tie the score 2-2 in the second half with her first goal of the season. The Rams fell to 2-6 this season as Rutgers-Newark (7-2-1) played solid for a 3-0 victory. Amanda Beck (Belmar, NJ) scored the game-winner just 2:03 into the game, but Farmingdale held the score to 1-0 at halftime. Christine Pober (Smithtown, NY) added two goals for Rutgers late in the second half. Rutgers’ Katie Hastings (Haddon Heights, NJ) made 1 save for the shutout. Pam Baione (Farmingdale, NY) made 13 saves in goal for Farmingdale.
The Rams travel to Staten Island on Tuesday, October 5th for a 3:30pm game.

Farmingdale State (3-5) took on the Maritime Club team today in a non-league match-up. Sophomore Amanda Chiusano (Bellport, NY) started the scoring for the Rams after 34 minutes of play and finished the game with three goals. Freshman defender Elizabeth Essig (West Babylon, NY) drilled a shot from outside the box at 39:08 to tally the Rams second goal. Kristina Famularo (East Meadow, NY) tapped in a cross in front from Natalie Budinich (Commack, NY).
Farmingdale will play Rutgers-Newark on Saturday, October 2nd in a double-header with the men’s team starting at Noon.

Hoskins Notches Hat Trick for Purchase Victory

Through heavy rains from Hurricane Jeanne, Carrie Hoskins (Berkeley, CA) led SUNY Purchase to a 5-1 victory. Hoskins scored 25 minutes into the game, notched the game-winner at 48:41 and tallied her third of the day with 30 minutes remaining. Purchase outshot the Rams 25-9.
Farmingdale’s goal was scored on a penalty kick by Natalie Budinich (Commack, NY) at 82:16. Pam Baione (Farmingdale, NY) finished with 10 saves for the Rams.
Farmingdale will face the Maritime College on Thursday, September 30th at 4pm.

Budinich Scores in OT to Beat Manhattanville

Just 4:33 into overtime, Natalie Budinich (Commack, NY/Commack) scored from the top of the box to give Farmingdale a 1-0 conference victory. The Rams (2-3, 2-0 Skyline) trailed in shots 24-7, but were able to find the back of the net remaining undefeated in Skyline Conference play. Manhattanville dropped to 0-7, 0-1 in the Skyline as they were seemingly unlucky, hitting the crossbar three times.
Pam Baione (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) picked up her second shutout making 11 saves in net. This win snapped a five-game losing streak against Manhattanville.
Farmingdale travels to Centenary College on Saturday, September 25th for a conference double-header along with the men’s soccer team starting at 1pm.

The Rams improved to 1-3, 1-0 in the Skyline as they defeated the College of Mount Saint Vincent 2-0 in a conference game. Sophomore Amanda Chiusano (Bellport, NY) scored 13 minutes into the first half off a pass from Kristina Famularo (East Meadow, NY). Chiusano also added an insurance goal for the Rams with 25 minutes left in the game. Farmingdale keeper Pam Baione (Farmingdale, NY) made 8 saves for her first shutout of the season.
Mount Saint Vincent’s fell to 1-2, 0-2 Skyline. Alexis Alessi (Rockville Centre, NY) made 13 stops in goal for the Dolphins.

FDU-Florham Shuts Out Farmingdale 6-0

Farmingdale (0-3, 0-0 Skyline) dropped a non-conference game today as FDU ran away with a 6-0 shutout. The game was scoreless for the first 29 minutes, before the Devils’ Ashleigh Hoey (Natick, MA) and Laura Wittenberg (East Windsor, NJ) each netted a goal in the next minute for a 2-0 lead. The Rams fell behind 4-0 at the half and would allow two more in the second. FDU’s Melissa Braun (South Amboy, NJ) was awarded the shutout with 2 saves.
Junior goalie Pam Baione (Farmingdale, NY), who leads the Skyline Conference in saves per game, made 22 saves in defeat for the Rams.
Farmingdale will face the College of Mount Saint Vincent at home on Monday, September 20th at 4pm.

Rams Suffer 3-0 Loss to Ramapo

The Rams (0-2) fell to Ramapo College (3-2) today with a final score of 3-0. Ramapo controlled the game early and took a 2-0 lead into halftime with goals by Lisa DePree (Ringwood, NJ) and Lindsay Kotula (Manalapan, NJ). Farmingdale held the Roadrunners to one goal in the second as Pam Baione (Farmingdale, NY) made 11 saves in the second half, 13 total. Farmingdale hosts FDU-Florham next Thursday, Sept. 16th at 3:30pm.

Rams Fall in Season Opener 8-1

The Rams suffered their first loss of the season in their season opener, as the Catholic University Cardinals rolled to an 8-1 victory. Stephanie Hare (Atlanta, GA) started the scoring for Catholic, assisted by Laura Kaye (Annandale, VA) at 6:52 in the first. The Cardinals’ Angela Rodano (Edgewater, MD) and Kaye also scored in the first, making it 3-0 at the half. Rodano finished with three goals for Catholic and Kaye scored two goals and an assist. Jenny Aspinwall (Chantilly, VA) and Meghan McGuire (East Amherst, NY) added a goal each for the Cardinals.
Farmingdale goalkeeper Pam Baione (Farmingdale, NY) finished with a noteworthy effort in goal, making 21 saves (12 in the first and 9 in the second) with a .724 save percentage. The Rams’ goal came in the second by Freshman Amanda Boylan (West Babylon, NY) off a corner kick by Natalie Budinich (Commack, NY).
Farmingdale will face Ramapo College next Saturday, September 11th at Noon.

The Skyline Conference officially launched its new website on Thursday, September 2, kicking off the fall sports season. The website, which includes conference standings and team schedules that are updated on a daily basis, provides the Skyline Conference with one of the top websites in the nation for a Division III conference.
