FSC Falls to RIT in First Spring Break Game

CLEARWATER, FL | The FSC women's lacrosse team opened their spring break trip with a game against Rochester Institute of Technology and fell, 19-5.

The Rams scored the opening goal of the game as senior attack Athena Vogiatzis (Holtsville, N.Y.) scored off the feed from senior midfielder Ashley Codispoti (Patchogue, N.Y.).

The Tigers quickly responded by winning the draw and scoring an unassisted goal just 15 seconds later to tie the game.

RIT would tally the game's next 10 goals to take a commanding 11-1 lead. 

Farmingdale State trailed 12-2 at the halftime break before sophomore midfielder Molly Espey (West Hempstead, N.Y.) scored from Anna Hughes (Bethpage, N.Y.) to cut their deficit to nine.

The teams traded goals as junior attack Nicole Pontecorvo (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Vogiatzis scored for the Rams.

RIT closed the game with five unanswered goals as they went on for the 19-5 victory.

Vogiatzis led the way for the Rams with three goals, while Codispoti had three assists.

FSC senior goalkeeper Ronnie Reilly (Oceanside, N.Y.) registered a career-high 16 saves in the loss.

The Rams next will take on Curry on Thursday, March 16th at 10:00 a.m.
