Rams Drop Non-Conference Matchup at Kean

Union, N.J. - In their final non-conference game of the season, the Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team fell to Kean, 16-3, on Saturday afternoon. The Rams fell to 2-6 overall, while the Cougars improved to 4-3.

Kean started quickly scoring five goals in the first 6:30 of the game, including three from senior attack Sarah Wagner (Bronxville, N.Y.).

The Rams got on the board with 6:01 left in the first quarter as freshman defender Anna Zaborowska (East Patchogue, N.Y.) scored off the pass from freshman attack Jasmin Brown (Shirley, N.Y.) to cut the deficit to 5-1.

The Cougars responded with two goals over the next 1:11 to take a commanding 7-1 advantage.

Farmingdale State freshman attack Nicole Pontecorvo (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) opened the scoring in the second quarter as sophomore midfielder Megan Diamond (Dix Hills, N.Y.) had the assist, but Kean would score the final three goals of the half as they took a 10-2 lead into the break.

After five unanswered goals by the Cougars in the third quarter, Rams' freshman attack Marina Zumbrunn (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) scored FSC's final goal, from sophomore attack Athena Vogiatzis (Holtsville, N.Y.).

Kean added a goal in the fourth quarter as they earned the 16-3 victory.

Zaborowska had a goal, one caused turnover and five ground balls for FSC.

Four different players had three goals for the Cougars in the win.

The women's lacrosse team next opens their Skyline Conference schedule with a road game at Mount Saint Mary College on Wednesday, March 30th at 7:00 p.m.
