Gendels and Zumbrunn Named IWLCA All-Region

Northborough, MA - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has honored 272 student-athletes in Division III with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2021. These student-athletes are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team. The IWLCA will announce the 2021 All-American teams and Players of the Year in June.

Farmingdale State senior attack Courtney Gendels (Wantagh, N.Y.) was named First Team All-Boardwalk Region, while freshman defender Marina Zumbrunn (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) earned Second Team honors.

Gendels, who was tabbed the Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Year, led the conference with 40 goals and 53 points. She ranked seventh in the Nation in both goals per game (5.00) and points per game (6.62), 22nd in shots on goal per game (7.00) and 36th for shots per game (8.38). Gendels scored at least three goals in every game this season and held a .636 free-position percentage, a mark that ranks 71st in the NCAA.

Zumbrunn anchored the Farmingdale State defense that ranked 31st in the Nation in scoring defense (7.50) and 58th in caused turnovers per game (10.62). The Rams allowed a conference-low 60 goals this season and caused a conference-high 85 turnovers in eight games. Zumbrunn led the team with nine caused turnovers.
