FSC Closes Regular Season with Win at Old Westbury

Old Westbury, N.Y. - The FSC women's lacrosse team defeated conference opponent Old Westbury, 16-5, this afternoon in their regular season finale. Farmingdale State closes out their regular season schedule with a 7-10 overall record, including 6-1 in the conference, and enters the upcoming Skyline Conference Championship at the #2 seed.

Leading 3-2 just 10 minutes into the game, FSC used back-to-back free-position goals from sophomore midfielder Danielle Hall (Levittown, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Sam Shelton (Holtsville, N.Y.) to take a three-goal advantage. Rams' senior midfielder Alexandra Sparrow (Levittown, N.Y.) followed with a goal off the feed from junior midfielder Courtney Gendels (Wantagh, N.Y.) to go in front, 6-2.

Still leading 6-2 with 13 minutes left in the first half, Farmingdale State senior attack Jessica Spina (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) tallied a man-up, free-position score before sophomore attack Deanna Iannotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) registered an unassisted goal to give FSC an 8-2 advantage.

The Rams led 9-3 at the break and opened the second half with three straight goals from freshman attack Kristen Shine (Manorville, N.Y.), Iannotta and Gendels to take a commanding 12-3 lead.

After a 2-1 run by the Panthers (3-12, 2-5 Skyline) cut their deficit to 13-5, Farmingdale State notched the final three goals of the game as they went on for the 16-5 victory.

Gendels tallied a game-high seven points on five goals and two assists, while Spina produced three goals and three assists for a season-high six points. Shelton finished with two goals, one assist, four ground balls and two draw control and Shine added one goal, an assist, four draw control, four ground balls and a season-high two caused turnovers. FSC's Alexandra Palladino (Dix Hills, N.Y.), Skylar Steinberg (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Lauryn O'Keefe (Levittown, N.Y.) each added two caused turnovers in the win.

Farmingdale State freshmen goalkeepers Emily Rodier (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) (W, 3-4) and Iyana Hudson (Brentwood, N.Y.) split time in net and each stopped four shots.

FSC will next host third-seeded St. Joseph's-Long Island (7-6, 5-2 Skyline) in the Skyline Semifinals on Wednesday, May 1st at 4:30 p.m.
