FSC Women's Lacrosse Falls at Albright

Reading, Penn. - In a non-conference women's lacrosse game at Albright this afternoon, Farmingdale State was defeated, 16-6. The Rams now sit at 0-5, while the Lions improved to 5-2 on the year.

Albright scored the first six goals of the game until a free-position goal at the 17:11 mark by FSC junior midfielder Sam Shelton (Holtsville, N.Y.) brought the score to 6-1. After Kelly Baumann (South Huntington, N.Y.) tallied a goal for the Lions, Shelton responded with her second free-position score of the first half to keep the Rams' deficit at five, 7-2, with 7:33 on the clock. Albright senior defender Alexis Filmer (East Syracuse, N.Y.) tallied the final goal of the first half as the Lions took an 8-2 advantage into the break.

Albright scored five unanswered to open the second half and increased the lead to 13-2 with 17:16 left to play. The Rams responded with goals by Deanna Iannotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), Skylar Steinberg (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Jessica Spina (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) to close within eight, 13-5, with 8:34 remaining. The Lions outscored FSC, 3-1, the remainder of the game en route to the 16-6 victory.

For the Rams, Shelton recorded three points on two goals and an assist to go along with a game-high five draw controls, while Steinberg added a goal and an assist.

Baumann had a game-high 10 points on four goals and six assists, while freshman attacks Gabby Spracklin (Reading, Penn.) and Ashleigh Tortorice (West Babylon, N.Y.) each scored four goals.

FSC next will square off against Western New England in Florida on Tuesday, March 19th at 10:00 a.m. While in Florida, the Rams will also face Calvin at Lemon Bay High School in Englewood on Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m.
