Rams Defeat CMSV; Improve to 5-1 in Skyline

Riverdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team earned a 16-6 Skyline Conference victory over Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday afternoon in Riverdale, N.Y. The Rams improved to 6-8 overall and 5-1 in conference play, while the Dolphins fell to 3-8, 0-6.

Tied 1-1 with 26:47 remaining, FSC used a score by junior attack Jessica Spina (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) to take a one-goal advantage. Only 27 seconds later, Farmingdale State went up by two after an unassisted goal from sophomore attack Samantha Walker (Bay Shore, N.Y.). After back-to-back Haley Perez (Smithtown, N.Y.) scores, sophomore attack Sam Shelton (Holtsville, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder Julia Tuohy (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) followed with goals to put the Rams out in front, 7-1, with 16:23 on the clock.

Leading 9-4 late in the first half, a pair of Nicola Ingrassia (Deer Park, N.Y.) goals and one from sophomore midfielder Courtney Gendels (Wantagh, N.Y.) increased the FSC advantage to 12-4. With nine seconds left in the first, CMSV's Emma Dell'Aquila (Miller Place, N.Y.) recorded the final score of the half as Farmingdale State took a 12-5 lead into the break. The Rams scored on 12-of-17 shot attempts in the first half.

In a low scoring second half, Gendels (2), freshman midfielder Deanna Iannotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Perez scored to give Farmingdale State a 16-5 advantage. The Dolphins added a late goal as the Rams earned the 16-6 road victory.

Spina finished with a game-high eight points on one goal and seven assists, while Tuohy scored three goals and had four assists for seven points. Gendels added three goals and an assist and Perez tallied three goals, three ground balls, two draw controls and a game-high three caused turnovers. Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Meyers (Smithtown, N.Y.) stopped seven shots in the victory for FSC.

Dell'Aquila led the way for Mount Saint Vincent with a team-high three points on two goals and one assist.

The Rams next host Skyline Conference opponent Old Westbury in their regular season finale on Saturday, April 28th at noon for senior day.
