Balanced Attack Leads Farmingdale State Past Purchase

Purchase, N.Y. - In the Skyline Conference women's lacrosse game at Purchase on Friday, Farmingdale State had five players score at least two goals as the Rams earned a 15-8 victory. FSC improved to 3-8 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while the Panthers dropped to 7-2, 2-2.

Tied 3-3 midway through the first half, Farmingdale State used a pair of goals from both sophomore attack Sam Shelton (Holtsville, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder Deanna Iannotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) to go out in front, 7-3. After a Kelly Turtell (Farmingdale, N.Y.) score cut the PC deficit to three with 4:46 remaining, FSC freshman midfielder Danielle Hall (Levittown, N.Y.) answered with a free-position goal. Over the final 47 seconds of the half, the Rams outscored the Panthers 2-1 on goals from Jessica Spina (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Julia Tuohy (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) as they took a 10-5 advantage into the break.

Leading 10-6 with 27:18 left to play, three unanswered FSC scores by Samantha Morra (Levittown, N.Y.), Nicola Ingrassia (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Tuohy extended the advantage to 13-6. Purchase would close within five with 11:32 remaining but the Rams notched the final two goals of the game to cap off the 15-8 victory.

Shelton led the way with four goals on six shots and a game-high six draw controls, while Tuohy and Spina each added two goals and two assists. Ingrassia finished the day with three points on two goals and an assist and Iannotta scored twice and picked up a game-high four ground balls.

For Purchase, senior midfielder Zoe Hines (Maplewood, N.J.) recorded a game-high six points on four goals and a pair of assists.

The Rams next will travel to St. Joseph's-Long Island for a Skyline Conference game on Wednesday, April 18th at 5:30 p.m.
