Graham Tallies Nine Points in Victory Over FSC

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Kean junior attack Morgan Graham (Lake Grove, N.Y.) tallied nine points, on three goals and six assists, in the Cougars 16-11 non-conference defeat of Farmingdale State this afternoon. The FSC women's lacrosse team fell to 1-6 on the year, while Kean improved to 9-0.

The Cougars scored four goals over the first 7:15 of the game to take an early 4-0 advantage. Sophomore midfielder Danni LeSaint (Tabernacle, N.J.) recorded three goals, while Graham registered three assists over the span.

The Rams would get on the board just over 10 minutes in as freshman midfielder Danielle Hall (Levittown, N.Y.) scored a free-position goal to cut the deficit to 4-1. Kean would quickly respond with a pair of goals to go up 6-1.

With 11:38 remaining in the half, FSC sophomore midfielder Courtney Gendels (Wantagh, N.Y.) registered back-to-back goals to close within three. Only 42 seconds later, Graham tallied a goal off the feed from senior midfielder Brittany Ballack (Monroe Township, N.J.) as Kean regained a four-goal lead, 7-3.

Farmingdale State would score the final two goals of the half as freshman midfielder Haley Perez (Smithtown, N.Y.) and sophomore attack Sam Shelton (Holtsville, N.Y.) recorded unassisted goals to head into the break trailing 7-5.

After Graham opened the second half with a goal for Kean, Rams freshman attack Julia Tuohy (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) set up Shelton for a goal before junior midfielder Alexandra Sparrow (Levittown, N.Y.) scored unassisted to close within just one, 8-7.

The Cougars answered by outscoring Farmingdale State 5-1 over the next 4:27 to open up an 13-8 lead. After a goal by Gendels with 18:08 left, Kean tallied back-to-back scores to go ahead by six, 15-9. 

FSC would only tally two more goals the rest of the way as Kean earned the non-conference victory, 16-11.

Gendels led the way for the Rams with a team-high three goals, while Perez, Sparrow and Shelton each scored twice. Farmingdale State senior goalkeeper Jessica Meyers (Smithtown, N.Y.) stopped 10 shots in defeat.

Graham had two caused turnovers to go along with her nine-point game. LeSaint ended with five goals and two ground balls, while senior midfielder Emily Stasuk (Baltimore, Md.) scored three times for the Cougars.

FSC next travels to Ramapo College for a non-conference game on Tuesday, April 3rd at 4:00 p.m.
