Rosino and Sparrow Lead FSC to Victory at Purchase

Purchase, N.Y. - Farmingdale State junior midfielder Brittany Rosino* (North Babylon, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder Alexandra Sparrow (Levittown, N.Y.) scored six and three goals respectively, as the FSC women's lacrosse team earned a 13-10 victory at Purchase this afternoon.

Trailing 3-1 with 16:41 remaining in the first half, Rosino tallied three consecutive goals over the next 5:57 to give Farmingdale State (5-9, 4-1) their first lead of the game at 4-3. After an unassisted goal from Janisha Sanchez (Brentwood, N.Y.) put FSC on top by two, Purchase (8-2, 4-1) sophomore attack Kelly Turtell (Farmingdale, N.Y.) recorded the final goal of the half as the Rams took a 5-4 lead into the break.

Farmingdale State held a one goal edge at 7-6, before Sparrow scored an unassisted goal with 23:27 left on the clock. Only 43 seconds later, a goal from junior attack Mia Johnson (Brentwood, N.Y.) gave the Rams a 9-6 lead.

Leading 9-7 with 22:02 remaining, FSC used three straight goals, including two from Rosino and the other by Sparrow to open up the largest lead of the game, 12-7. The Panthers outscored the Rams 3-1 over the final 10:31 as Farmingdale State earned the 13-10 conference road victory.

To go along with her game-high six goals, Rosino had five draw controls, three ground balls and caused three turnovers, while Sanchez pitched in with a goal and two assists for Farmingdale State.

Turtell posted a team-leading six points on three goals and three assists for Purchase.

The Rams next will host Old Westbury on Tuesday, April 26th at 3:00 p.m.
