Women's Lacrosse Falls at St. Joe's

St. Joseph's-LI - 7, Farmingdale State - 5


Patchogue, N.Y. - In a rematch of last year's Skyline Finals, the Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team traveled to St. Joseph's-LI and fell, 7-5.

After the Golden Eagles (8-4, 4-0) took an early 2-0 lead, the Rams (4-9, 3-1) answered with a free-position score from senior midfielder Kristen Ranaldo (Commack, N.Y.). Only 39 seconds later, SJC sophomore midfielder Kristin Carroll (Patchogue, N.Y.) tallied an unassisted goal to bring the Golden Eagles advantage back to two.

Farmingdale State closed the first half with goals by freshman attack Nicola Ingrassia (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Ranaldo as Janisha Sanchez (Brentwood, N.Y.) recorded both assists and sent the game into halftime tied 3-3.

St. Joe's scored four unanswered goals over the first 13:55 of the second half to open up their largest lead of the game at 7-3. FSC junior midfielder Brittany Rosino* (North Babylon, N.Y.) tallied the final two goals of the game but the Rams fell, 7-5.

Sanchez finished with a game-high four points on four assists, while Ranaldo and Rosino each scored twice. Junior goalkeeper Krista Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.) had 11 saves in the loss.

The Golden Eagles were led by Carroll's game-high three goals.

Farmingdale State next will head to Purchase for a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, April 23rd at 1:00 p.m.
