Rams Drop Non-Conference Game at Drew

Madison, N.J. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team traveled to Drew University for a non-conference game on Tuesday and fell, 20-9.

Junior attack Theresa Shafron (Roxbury, N.Y.) scored two goals in the first 1:45 of the game to quickly put the Rangers (4-9) on top, 2-0. Drew followed with four consecutive scores to extend their advantage to 6-0 with 24:16 remaining in the first half.

Farmingdale State (3-8) junior midfielder Brittany Rosino* (North Babylon, N.Y.) put the Rams on the board with a free position goal at the 23:50 mark. One minute later, freshman midfielder Alexandra Sparrow (Levittown, N.Y.) scored off the pass from Mia Johnson (Brentwood, N.Y.) to cut the deficit to 6-2.

After an unassisted goal from Morgan Mason (Cranford, N.J.) brought the Drew lead back to five, the Rams answered with scores from Rosino and Sparrow to close within three, 7-4, with 17:13 left in the half.

The Rangers outscored FSC 5-1 over the remainder of the first half and took a 12-5 lead into the break.

Trailing 17-6 with 12:32 remaining, Rosino scored twice and junior attack Janisha Sanchez (Brentwood, N.Y.) added a goal for Farmingdale State to make the score 17-9. Drew tallied the final three goals of the game en route to the 20-9 victory.

Rosino recorded a game-high six points on five goals and one assist and had 11 draw controls, while Sparrow finished with a pair of goals.

The Rangers were led by Mason who scored five times and sophomore defender Juliana Strazulo's (San Anselmo, Calif.) four goals, two assists and three caused turnovers.

The Rams next will play host to Maritime in a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, April 16th at noon.
