Rosino's Game-Winner Leads Rams to OT Victory

Newburgh, N.Y. - Farmingdale State junior midfielder Brittany Rosino* (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal on a free-position attempt with 35 seconds remaining in overtime to lead the FSC women's lacrosse team to a 13-12 victory over Mount Saint Mary on Saturday afternoon.

The Rams (2-7, 1-0) held a 9-5 advantage early in the second half before back-to-back goals by Rosino increased the lead to 11-5. The Knights (4-5, 0-1) answered with scores from junior attack Katie Gattoni (Old Tappan, N.J.) and sophomore midfielder Christina Ryan (Franklin Square, N.Y.) to close within four with 17:03 left on the clock.

After an Alexandra Sparrow (Levittown, N.Y.) goal put Farmingdale State on top 12-7, Mount Saint Mary closed the half with five unanswered scores to tie the game at 12-12 and force overtime.

With only 35 seconds left to play in overtime, Rosino's free-position goal gave the Rams a 13-12 win in their first conference game of the season.

Rosino tallied a game-high seven goals, had eight draw controls and picked up three ground balls, while junior midfielder Kristen Keller (Westbury, N.Y.) added a pair of goals. Junior attack Janisha Sanchez (Brentwood, N.Y.) recorded a game-high three assists for the Rams.

MSMC was led by Gattoni's team-high five goals.

Junior goalkeeper Krista Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.) had 10 saves in the victory.

The Rams next will travel to Mount Saint Vincent for a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, April 9th at 11:00 a.m.
