Rams Fall to Montclair State

Montclair, N.J. - In a non-conference road game at Montclair State on Thursday night, the Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team fell, 14-5.

After the Rams (1-7) took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Janisha Sanchez (Brentwood, N.Y.), junior midfielder Francesca Verrone (Flanders, N.J.) responded with back-to-back scores to put the Red Hawks (6-3) on top, 2-1. Montclair State followed with four straight goals, including three on free-position attempts to extend their advantage to 6-1 with 11:45 remaining in the first half. Farmingdale State's Brittany Rosino* (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Verrone each scored once over the final 11:45 as the Rams went into halftime trailing 7-2.

FSC was outscored 7-3 in the second half as Sanchez tallied one goal and junior midfielder Kristen Keller (Westbury, N.Y) scored twice for the Rams.

Keller finished with two goals and three draw controls, while Sanchez had a pair of goals and three ground balls. Rosino recorded two points on a goal and an assist and junior defender Michelle Lent (Glen Cove, N.Y.) caused a game-high three turnovers for Farmingdale State.

The Red Hawks were led by sophomore midfielder Chelsea Orban's (Long Valley, N.Y.) four goals and two assists.

FSC next will open Skyline Conference play when they head to Mount Saint Mary on Saturday, April 2nd at 1:00 p.m.
