Farmingdale, N.Y. - Tied 7-7 with 3.9 seconds remaining, junior midfielder Nicole Gottschalk (Glastonbury, Conn.) scored an unassisted goal to lead the Hawks past Farmingdale State, 8-7. The Rams dropped to 1-6 overall with the loss, while New Paltz improved to 3-5.

Farmingdale State junior midfielder Kristen Keller (Westbury, N.Y.) opened the scoring 29 seconds in, while junior midfielder Brittany Rosino* (North Babylon, N.Y.) added a free position goal three minutes later for a quick 2-0 Rams lead. New Paltz responded with four consecutive goals to hold the 4-2 advantage with 16 minutes remaining in the first.

Sophomore attack Samantha Morra (Levittown, N.Y.) put Farmingdale State within one, 4-3, with an unassisted goal at the 12:15 mark. Eleven minutes later, Rosino found senior attack Judy Romero (Brentwood, N.Y.) in front and she sent home the game-tying shot for a 4-4 halftime score.

In the second half, senior midfielder Kristen Ranaldo (Commack, N.Y.) gave the Rams a 5-4 lead off an assist by freshman attack Nicola Ingrassia (Deer Park, N.Y.). The Hawks responded with three goals to grab the 7-5 lead with 9:39 left to play.

Farmingdale's Rosino notched her second goal of the night with nine minutes on the clock, followed by Keller's second goal of the game to tie the score at 7-7 with 2:40 left.

New Paltz forced a turnover behind the net with 2:15 on the clock and would hold the ball until the final seconds, as Gottschalk gave her team the non-conference victory.

The Hawks were led by sophomore attack Kelsey Aeberli's (Warwick, N.Y.) four points (2 goals, 2 assists), while junior goalkeeper Colleen Roemer (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) made 12 saves for the win.

Farmingdale State's junior goalkeeper Krista Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.) made 10 saves in defeat.

The Rams will travel to face Montclair State on Thursday, March 31st for a non-conference game at 7:00 p.m.
