Lorusso Leads Buffalo State in Win Over Rams

Clermont, Fla. - In the first game of the spring trip in Clermont, Florida, the Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team fell, 11-6, to Buffalo State on Tuesday morning. Senior attack Sarah Lorusso (Lakeview, N.Y.) scored a game-high five goals to lead the Bengals.

After Buffalo State jumped out to a 4-0 lead over the first 8:53 of the game, the Rams (1-4) used a score from senior midfielder Kristen Ranaldo (Commack, N.Y.) to close within three. A Kristen Keller (Westbury, N.Y.) free-position goal and a score by freshman attack Nicola Ingrassia (Deer Park, N.Y.) cut the FSC deficit to 4-3 with 10:40 remaining in the first half. The Bengals (3-4) outscored the Rams 3-1 to close the half as they took a 7-4 advantage into the break.

Buffalo State opened the second half with three unanswered goals to take their largest lead of the game at 10-4. Junior midfielder Brittany Rosino* (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Ingrassia added late scores for the Rams in the 11-6 non-conference loss.

Ingrassia tallied a team-high two goals, while Rosino and Keller each scored a goal and had one assist. Freshman midfielder Alexandra Sparrow (Levittown, N.Y.) recorded a game-high six draw controls to go along with one goal for Farmingdale State.

Lorusso scored five goals, had two assists, three ground balls and two draw controls for Buffalo State.

FSC junior goalkeeper Krista Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.) stopped a season-high 15 shots, while sophomore Elyse Stark (Long Beach, N.Y.) had nine saves for the Bengals.
