Oneonta Takes Non-Conference Win over Rams

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Senior Catherine Clark and freshman Allison Butler paced the Oneonta attack today as they defeated the Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team, 12-5, in a SUNY matchup. The Red Dragons improved to 2-3 with the win, while the Rams fall to 1-3 overall.

Clark (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) opened the scoring at the 26:15 mark to give Oneonta their first lead of the game, before Farmingdale State notched the next two goals for a 2-1 advantage. Freshman attack Nicole Ingrassia (Deer Park, N.Y.) scored off a feed from junior attack Janisha Sanchez (Brentwood, N.Y.), while junior midfielder Kristen Keller (Westbury, N.Y.) sent home a pass from junior midfielder Brittany Rosino* (North Babylon, N.Y.).

Oneonta finished out the half with four straight goals, including two from Butler (Queensbury, N.Y.), and led 5-2 at the break.

In the second, Clark and Butler tallied a goal each in the first five minutes, pushing the Red Dragon lead to 7-2. Rams freshman midfielder Alexandra Sparrow (Levittown, N.Y.) scored on a pass from Sanchez with 23 minutes remaining to cut the deficit to 7-3, but Oneonta would add five more en route to the non-conference victory.

Junior attack Mia Johnson (Brentwood, N.Y.) and senior midfielder Kristen Ranaldo (Commack, N.Y.) tallied late scores for Farmingdale State.

Oneonta's freshman goalkeeper Jaclyn Marry (Long Beach, N.Y.) made 13 saves for the win. Clark finished with a team-high four goals and one assist. Butler posted three goals and one assist.

The Rams will now depart for their Spring Break trip to the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida on Sunday, March 20th. They will face Buffalo State on Tuesday, March 22nd at 11:00 a.m. and Rochester Institute on Thursday, March 24th at 10:00 a.m.
