2015 Women's Lacrosse Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The women's lacrosse team posted a 6-1 conference record and earned the #2 seed for the Skyline Conference playoffs. The Rams defeated Mount Saint Mary in the semifinals but fell, 7-5, at top-seeded St. Joseph's in the finals. FSC held an overall record of 10-7 on the year.

Senior midfielder Nicole Marzocca* (North Babylon, N.Y.) was named IWLCA First Team All-Boardwalk Region and the Skyline Conference Player of the Year, while sophomore goalkeeper Krista Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.) earned IWLCA First Team All-Boardwalk and First Team All-Conference honors.

Senior midfielder Christy Thoden* (Bayport, N.Y.), and junior defenders Sara Rivadeneyra* (Ridge, N.Y.) and Kristine Minogue (Miller Place, N.Y.) were each named First Team All-Skyline, while senior midfielder Alyssa Handel (Medford, N.Y.), senior attack Jackie Kennedy (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and junior attack Kristen Ranaldo (Commack, N.Y.) were all named to the Second Team.

Offensively, the Rams were led by Marzocca who recorded team-high's in goals (39), points (47), assists (86) and ground balls (55). She ranked 14th in the nation in assists and 34th for points per game. Thoden, who won a team-leading 127 draw controls, also scored 38 goals and tallied 31 assists for 69 points. Thoden caused a team-high 32 turnovers and was sixth in Division III for draw controls.

Handel was third on FSC in both goals (37) and points (61), while Kennedy scored 17 goals and had 28 assists on the year. Ranaldo and sophomore attack Kristen Keller (Westbury, N.Y.) each totaled 28 points.

Spagnoletta tallied 144 saves with a 9.01 goals against average. She was 12th in the nation with a .522 save percentage.

Farmingdale State graduated seven seniors this year.
