Eight Rams Named All-Skyline for Women's Lacrosse; Marzocca Tabbed Player of the Year

New York, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team had eight players named All-Conference in voting conducted by the league's eight head coaches.

Senior midfielder Nicole Marzocca* (North Babylon, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Year and was a First Team selection, while senior midfielder Christy Thoden* (Bayport, N.Y.), junior defender Kristine Minogue (Miller Place, N.Y.), junior defender Sara Rivadeneyra* (Ridge, N.Y.) and sophomore goalkeeper Krista Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.) were all named to the First Team. Senior attack's Alyssa Handel (Medford, N.Y.) and Jackie Kennedy (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) along with junior attack Kristen Ranaldo (Commack, N.Y.) each earned Second Team honors.

Marzocca has registered a league-best 47 assists while adding a team-high 39 goals. Twice named the Skyline Player of the Week in 2015, the North Babylon, N.Y., resident has amassed 45 ground balls, 55 draw controls and 28 caused turnovers. Marzocca boasts 10 multi-goal performances this season, including five-goal efforts in wins over both Elmira (Apr. 13) and Mount Saint Mary (Apr. 18). She is a four-time All-Conference selection, including a two-time First Team honoree.

Thoden, who started every game, led the team in draw controls (127) and caused turnovers (32), ranked second in goals (38), assists (31), points (69) and ground balls (44). She is ranked seventh in Division III for draw controls and 53rd for assists.

Minogue started 16-of-17 games and caused 11 turnovers and picked up 17 ground balls from her defensive position. She added 10 goals and two assists for 12 points on the season.

Rivadeneyra, who appeared in every game while starting 16, was third on the Rams in caused turnovers with 31 and ground balls with 30. As a defender, she recorded one goal and one assist this year.

Spagnoletta started 16 games in goal for FSC this season. She totaled 144 saves, had a .522 save percentage and a 9.01 goals against average. Spagnoletta is ranked 14th in the nation for save percentage, 50th for saves and 54th in goals against average.

Handel started all 17 games and was third on the Rams in goals (37) and points (61) and fourth in both assists (24) and caused turnovers (13).

Kennedy, who started 17-of-17 games, was third on Farmingdale State in assists (28), fourth in points (45) and seventh for goals (17).

Ranaldo started 15 games and was third on FSC is draw controls (24) and fourth in goals with 21. Ranaldo also added seven assists and 20 ground balls on the season.
