Thoden Breaks National Record; Marzocca School Record in Win over Panthers

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Senior midfielders Christy Thoden* (Bayport, N.Y.) and Nicole Marzocca* (North Babylon, N.Y.) both broke records today as the Rams (4-3, 1-0 Skyline) took a 15-4 victory over Old Westbury (1-6, 0-3) at Panther Park.

Collecting a game-high 10 draw controls, Thoden broke the NCAA Division III career draw control record. She is now an active NCAA record holder with 454 draw controls to date, surpassing Kimberly Commisso's record of 448 (2011-2014).

Scoring a game-high seven points (1 goal, 6 assists), Marzocca broke the school's all-time points record, pushing her career total to 292 points. Marzocca surpassed Justine Rothar, who held the record since 2011. Marzocca also tied Rothar's all-time career goals record today of 173 career goals.

In the first half, Farmingdale State scored the first six goals for the 6-0 advantage and never looked back as they held a 10-1 lead at the break. The Panthers were able to score three in the second half, but the Rams controlled the game throughout and cruised to the 15-4 conference win.

Also in scoring for the Rams was sophomore attack Kristen Keller (Westbury, N.Y.), who finished the day with two goals and two assists. Senior attack Emily Wolff (Middle Island, N.Y.), sophomore midfielder Brittany Rosino (North Babylon, N.Y.), freshman attack Samantha Morra (Levittown, N.Y.) and Thoden all recorded three points on the day. Junior goalkeeper Georgia Kalamidas (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) made four saves for the win.

The Rams will now host St. Joseph's on Wednesday, April 8th in a Skyline game at 3:30 p.m.
