Rams Fall in Non-Conference Matchup with Montclair

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team fell 12-6 to visiting non-conference opponent Montclair State today. The Rams drop to 3-3 overall, while the Red Hawks improve to 4-4.

Trailing 5-2 in the opening minutes of the second half, Farmingdale State used back-to-back scores by senior midfielder Christy Thoden* (Bayport, N.Y.) to close within one, 5-4. Senior attack Kelly Geheran (Sayville, N.Y.) evened the score at 5-5 with a free position goal with 25: 58 remaining in regulation.

Montclair State responded with six straight goals over the next 23 minutes to open up an 11-5 advantage. Senior midfielder Alyssa Handel (Medford, N.Y.) added a late score for the Rams, but Farmingdale State fell 12-6.

Senior midfielder Nicole Marzocca* (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored one goal and has now tied Justine Rothar (2008-2011) for most career points at 285. She is also one goal shy of tying the record for most career goals (173), also held by Rothar. Thoden scored two goals and grabbed a game-high four draw controls, while Geheran, Handel and junior midfielder Kristen Ranaldo (Commack, N.Y.) each recorded one goal.

The Red Hawks were led by senior attack Tierney Conlon (Caldwell, N.J.) who tallied a game-high five points on four goals and one assist.

The Rams will now travel to face Old Westbury on Thursday, April 2nd at 3:00 p.m.
