Thoden and Marzocca Named IWLCA All-Region

- Thoden named First Team All-Boardwalk Region, Marzocca earns Second Team honors -


Grand Lake, Colo. - The IWLCA has honored 256 student-athletes in Division III with a selection on one of the All-Regional teams for 2014. These student-athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Monday May 19. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on Saturday June 7, 2014 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.

Junior midfielder Christy Thoden (Bayport, N.Y.) was named First Team All-Boardwalk Region after leading the Rams to an 18-2 record this season and a berth into the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Thoden led the Rams in draw controls (155), caused turnovers (50) and ground balls (67), while ranking second in goals (46), assists (39) and points (85). She led the Skyline in draw controls per game (7.75) and was second in both points per game (4.25) and assists per game (1.95). In Division III, Thoden ranks sixth for draw controls, 21st in caused turnovers, 28th in assists and 46th in points. Thoden broke her own single-season school records for draw controls, ground balls and caused turnovers.

Junior midfielder Nicole Marzocca (North Babylon, N.Y.) earned Second Team All-Boardwalk Regions honors this year. She led Farmingdale State in goals (59), assists (47), points (106) and free-position scores (6) and was second in caused turnovers (31), draw controls (52) and ground balls (32). Marzocca was the conference leader in assists per game (2.35), points per game (5.30) and game-winning goals (5). Marzocca ranks 11th in the Nation in points, 16th for assists, 23rd in assists per game and 65th in goals scored. Marzocca set the single-season FSC record with her 106 points this season.
