Rams Headed to Salisbury for Women's Lacrosse NCAA's

Field of 36 teams announced for DIII women's lacrosse championship

Indianapolis, Ind. - The NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Committee has selected the teams that will compete in the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship. Farmingdale State (18-1) received a First Round bye and will be heading to Sea Gull Stadium in Salisbury, Maryland for a Second Round game, facing #2 Salisbury University (18-1).

The Rams advanced to the NCAA Tournament with a 9-8 win over St. Joseph's (L.I.) in the Skyline Championship on April 26th, claiming their first conference title since 2009 and second since the program began in 2006. Salisbury, who are the defending National Champions, advanced after claiming their 12th straight Capital Athletic Conference title with a 13-6 win over York College (Pa.). The championship provides for a 36-team tournament. Twenty-three conferences have been awarded automatic qualification for the championship. Five teams have been selected from Pool B, which consists of independent institutions and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification. The final eight berths are reserved for Pool C, which includes the remaining institutions in conferences with automatic qualification that are not the conference champion plus remaining independents and members of non-qualifying conferences.

Four first-round games will be conducted on Wednesday, May 7 with the winners advancing to the second round. Sixteen second-round games will be conducted on Saturday, May 10 with the winners advancing to one of four regional sites May 17-18. Winners of the four regionals will advance to the semifinals and final, which takes place May 24 and 25 at Clark Field in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Gettysburg will serve as host for the National Championship.
