Marzocca Breaks School Record in Semifinal Shutout

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The top-seeded Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team shutout #4 Mount Saint Vincent today, 18-0, in a Skyline Semifinal game. With the win, the Rams (17-1) advance to their 3rd straight Skyline Conference Championship game and will face the winner of #3 Mount Saint Mary/#2 St. Joseph's at home on Saturday, April 26th at 1:00 p.m.

Farmingdale State opened the scoring in the first minute with a goal by sophomore midfielder Lisa Olen (East Islip, N.Y.), assisted by junior midfielder Christy Thoden (Bayport, N.Y.). The Rams never looked back as they led 14-0 at the halftime break.

Junior midfielder Nicole Marzocca (North Babylon, N.Y.) broke the school record for points in a season (101) with a six point game (two goals, four assists), while Thoden led the team with seven points, including three goals, four assists and 14 draw controls. Junior midfielder Jackie Kennedy (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) posted two goals, three assists for the day and freshman attack Kristen Keller (Westbury, N.Y.) notched two goals and one assist. Sophomore defender Sarah Gerner (Levittown, N.Y.) had a great game with three ground balls and three caused turnovers.

For Mount Saint Vincent, junior goalkeeper Kacie McCormack (Mahopac, N.Y.) made 17 saves in defeat.

The winner of Saturday's Championship game receives an automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament.
