Farmingdale State - 17, Mount Saint Mary - 11


Newburgh, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team won their sixth straight game today with a 17-11 win over Skyline opponent Mount Saint Mary College today. The Rams now stand at 12-1, 4-0 in the conference, while the Knights drop to 5-4, 3-1.

Freshman attack Brittany Rosino (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored just 25 seconds into the game to give Farmingdale a 1-0 lead, before Mount Saint Mary scored the next two for their only lead of the game, 2-1.

Junior midfielder Christy Thoden (Bayport, N.Y.) tied the game at 2-2 and the Rams scored three more to take a 5-2 lead and cruise to the 9-5 halftime advantage.

In the second, sophomore midfielder Kristen Ranaldo (Commack, N.Y.) needed just 13 seconds to push the Farmingdale State lead to five goals (29:47 left to play). The Mount scored two straight to cut the deficit to three, 10-7, but the Rams held them to four goals the rest of the way as they took the 17-11 victory.

Sophomore attack Kimberly Pepe (Levittown, N.Y.) finished with a game-high four goals, while junior attack Jackie Kennedy (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) finished with a game-high four assists. Junior midfielder Nicole Marzocca (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored three goals and three assists, along with a game-high six draw controls. Thoden grabbed eight ground balls and four draws, while causing five turnovers for the day.

Freshman attack Katie Gattoni (Old Tappan, N.J.) scored three for the Knights, while sophomore defender Claire Duffy (Monroe, N.Y.) finished with seven ground balls and four caused turnovers. Sophomore goalkeeper Deirdre Ray (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) made 12 saves in defeat.

The Rams will now host New Paltz State on Tuesday, April 8th at 4:00 p.m.
