Rams Never Trailed in Win over Knights

Farmingdale State - 18, Mount Saint Mary College - 9


Newburgh, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team came home with an 18-9 victory over Mount Saint Mary College on Thursday night, improving to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in Skyline play. The Knights fell to 5-2, 1-1 in the conference.

The Rams tallied the opening goal and never trailed, leading 4-2 with 23:00 left in the first. Mount Saint Mary's Nicole Cacioppo would make it 4-3 on a free position shot, but Farmingdale State scored the next five goals, including two goals from sophomore attack Nicole Marzocca (West Babylon, N.Y.), to build six goal lead and take the 12-4 advantage into the half.

In the second, the Rams scored four goals over the first ten minutes to lead 16-4 and would roll on towards the Skyline win. Sophomore midfielder Christy Thoden (Bayport, N.Y.) led with two goals, two assists, three ground balls and nine draw controls. Sophomore midfielder Alyssa Handel (Medford, N.Y.) finished with three goals and one assist, while senior attack Carly Schneider (Merrick, N.Y.) had three goals.

Farmingdale State will travel to face Maritime College on Saturday, March 23rd for another Skyline game at 1:00 p.m.
