Rams Earn Conference Win Over Old Westbury

Farmingdale State - 19, Old Westbury - 3


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team defeated Old Westbury, 19-3, in their Skyline Conference opener yesterday afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the Skyline, while the Panthers dropped to 0-3, 0-1.

Tied 1-1 in the opening minutes of play, 11 straight goals by Farmingdale State gave the Rams a 12-1 lead at halftime. Farmingdale State outscored Old Westbury 7-2 in the second half en route to the 19-3 conference victory.

Sophomore midfielder Christy Thoden (Bayport, N.Y.) had a game-high eight points, scoring three goals and adding five assists, while tallying 10 draw controls and five caused turnovers. Sophomore attack Nicole Marzocca (West Babylon, N.Y.) scored three goals and had two assists, while freshman attack Kimberly Pepe (Levittown, N.Y.) had three goals on three shots. Freshman attack Jenna Rothar (Levittown, N.Y.) added two goals for the Rams.

Farmingdale State next will host Western Connecticut State in a non-conference game on Wednesday, March 13th at 4:00 p.m.
