Farmingdale, N.Y. - Athletic Director Michael Harrington is pleased to announce that Erin Calkins has been named the Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Farmingdale State.
Calkins has been an assistant on the staff for the past four seasons, helping the Rams to their first-ever Skyline Conference Championship in 2009. Last year, the team posted a program best 13-2 record. Prior to Farmingdale State, Calkins was an assistant coach at Central Connecticut.
Calkins was a two sport athlete and three-year starting goalkeeper at Eastern Connecticut State University. As a freshman, she was honored by IWCLA/US Lacrosse as a Second Team All-New England selection and was named Conference Rookie of the Year. Calkins led Eastern Connecticut to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2005. She set ECSU single-season records for games played, starts, minutes and saves. She also recorded the second-best win total and save percentage in school history.
Calkins earned her bachelor's degree in Sport and Leisure Management at Eastern Connecticut and is currently pursuing her master's degree in Liberal Studies at Stony Brook University.
Calkins, a native of Stony Brook, N.Y., replaces Katie Mollot, who was the head coach at Farmingdale State for the past two seasons.
