Three Rams Named IWLCA All-Boardwalk Region

- Cook Named to First Team, Shand and Thoden Named Second Team -


Grand Lake, Colo. - The IWLCA has honored 224 student-athletes in Division III with a selection on one of the All-Regional teams for 2012. These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on May 24. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on June 16, 2012 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.

Three of the Rams were selected to the All-Boardwalk Teams, including senior goalkeeper Courtney Cook (Deer Park, N.Y.), senior attack Krystin Shand (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder Christy Thoden (Bayport, N.Y.).

Cook was named to the First Team after being named the Skyline Player of the Year, posting a career-best record of 13-2 and leading the Rams to a regular season 1st place finish in the Skyline. Cook made 113 saves with a career-low 6.49 goals against average and a .536 save percentage. She leaves Farmingdale State with school records for Most Wins (30), Saves in a game (23 vs. Montclair State on 5/2/09), Most Wins in a season (13 in '12), Save percentage (.565 in '09), GAA (6.49 in '12), Games Played (16 in '11) and Minutes Played (1011 in '11).

Shand, a First-Team All-Skyline selection, was named to the Second Team, posting career-highs all year while breaking records for Assists in a season (57) and moving into 2nd All-Time for Career Assists (77). She scored a career-high 34 goals and career-high 91 points. She leaves the Rams ranking 2nd in Assists, 2nd in Assists per game (1.75) and 3rd for Points (139).

Thoden, the teams rookie starting center and a First Team All-Skyline selection, broke seven single-season school records and holds four career records already. She finished the year scoring 39 goals and 11 assists for 50 points, while leading the team with single-season records of 64 ground balls, 119 draw controls, seven game-winning goals and 40 caused turnovers. She ranks 1st All-Time for ground balls per game (4.27), Draw controls per game (7.93), CT's per game (2.67) and Game-winning goals (7).
